White House breathes new life into immigration bill

Ted Kennedy’s immigration bill could have been killed yesterday, but now thanks to the “conversion” of politicians on both sides of the aisle, the bill got a stay of execution and will move to the Senate.

With a majority of Americans firmly in opposition to this legislation, you have to wonder what’s driving it. The following is an excerpt from an email I received from NumbersUSA. I think you’ll find it provocative.

“Rosemary Jenks (our NumbersUSA director of government relations) just called me and said her team of lobbyists is reporting that the White House has dispatched officials at the highest level to buy votes.

She said Senate staffers are confirming that the Administration is offering various favors of all kinds to Senators who have publicly committed themselves to a NO on cloture but who might be willing to switch votes and to Senators who haven’t declared themselves yet.

‘We’ll have a pretty good idea after the vote tomorrow which Senators sold,’ Rosemary said.”

Ted Kennedy was quoted in an AP article saying the bill is “a major step forward for our national security, for our economy, and for our humanity.”

But how does assimilating 12-20 million foreigners, who deliberately broke the law to get here and are now demanding we let them stay, help our national security? How does it help our economy? How does it enrich our humanity.

Frankly, I’m not interested in lending a helping hand to those who have no regard for The Rule of Law, especially when, now that they are here, they think that we owe them a free lunch. How does conferring legal status on millions of people who got here by breaking the law good for our national security?

Since Ted wants to make sure that those illegals get hefty entitlements (entitlements you and I will be paying for long after ol’ Ted has voted himself another raise) how does increasing the size of government, and subsequently, our tax burden, benefit the economy? This also doesn’t factor in the millions of jobs which Americans (that includes legal immigrants, BTW) will lose to these illegals.

Given these considerations, I find it difficult to make a case for the humanity of this bill, when it rewards, blatant disregard for the law (thereby making the country less secure for law abiding citizens and those who are here legally); binds a heavy burden on hard working Americans; and thumbs its nose in the face of immigrants who have a legal right to be here.

You can find more information, including a breakdown of who voted and how they voted over at The Hoosierpundit.

  1. “With a majority of Americans firmly in opposition…you have to wonder what’s driving it.”

Gee I wonder too since the same applies to the war in Iraq and the Bush administration.

And how is this “Kennedy’s Bill?”

Selective reporting. I’m pretty sure Bush is 100% on board, but of course you wouldn’t want to upset your readers with reality.

Truthfully, I wonder if the people who come to this blog, other than myself and Brad, can even read. I think they just like the pretty colors and shiny things.

  2. Don’t forget the brain parasites!
    http://www.uthouston.edu/hLeader/archive/Infectious_Disease/2006/brainworm-1025.html

Not only are these people sneaking into our country and dodging paying taxes, but they’re introducing an invasive species like the plot from a bad scifi movie!

    Yo Quero, Taco Bell, indeed!

  3. I think about 99% of the people associated with this blog, sans moi of course, have nothing to fear from “brain parasites.” In fact, you people might be the cure, you could starve them into extinction.

(:I know, I know you can thank me later:)

  4. No. I’ll thank you now for your “thoughtful” comments, Diego. This is Kennedy’s bill because he is the primary architect for it. He also has been a driving force in pushing it.

You’re correct, of course, about President Bush being 100% behind this bill and if you bothered to read the title of the post, or, for that matter, an earlier post where I was critical of both Kennedy and Bush for cutting covenant over this bill, you’d know that we gave Bush his due.

  5. No you didn’t you do what you always do. You mention him briefly and then rail about the “Lib.” And it just seems disingenuous when you talk about “objectivity” and then go out of your way to slant things. You want your readers to be mad at Kennedy, and not Bush or Republicans in general because you maintain the delusion you are the “moral” party. Complete and utter fantasy world. Bush is the driving force publicly with this bill, not Kennedy.

The simple truth is, if you cared about morality, values, etc etc, which you here in this wasteland talk about so very very much. You’d be criticizing Reps every bit as much as Libs, but you don’t.

For someone who’s always trying to nail others with the “truth”, you sure seem to avoid it a lot in your own thinking and writing.

  7. I’m going to hate myself in the morning but I have to say I agree with the vast majority of your post. I say better funding and manpower for the Department of Immigration and Naturalization is the key to solving this delima, not more un-enforceable legislation. The ability to process legal immigrants in a timely fashion would seperate legitimate immigrants from the criminal element they are grouped with by illegally entering the country. There by allowing our border patrol to be more agressive in their deportation procedures, cuz legitimate immigrants would not need to enter illegally.

A staff writer from this blog(you know who you are, TR) seems to think that these illegals can be conscripted into millitary service and sent to Iraq and other War on Terror locations to be killed in place of little, white Johnny American. I suppose that is the Homeland Security angle, I find it disgusting.

Excuse me!!!! Did you not see my brilliant photo retouching of Bush and Gonzales preparing to hand out amnesty cards to illegals?

Now c’mon! If that isn’t bashing the Prez, what is?

Good grief, I have at least been crediting you with having your own opinion rather than roboting after the liberal leadership. But now you’re sounding like a typical demobot, spouting the party line of “You never said that” when we most certainly did!

Has Dr. Smith reprogrammed you, or are you having a bout of Ponfar-induced amnesia?

  9. Perhaps, Diego, you missed the part of the post which showcases the White House’s (write that as the BUSH administration) attempts (and apparent success) at buying votes in order to ramrod this legislation onto the Senate floor, or T.R.’s Photoon depicting Bush as the dark Lord Sidious of StarWars fame.

Aside from that, our “bias” doesn’t negate our conclusions that this legislation is nothing more than liberal idolatry in action for Senator Kennedy and political goldbricking by President Bush. We’ve made no secret of that. Nor does our transparency detract from our position that within the GOP there are those who sincerely hold to classical conservative ideals, which is why I have written that the party needs to remove the dead wood of the neoconservative movement from their ranks.

That said, we don’t throw the BUSHY out with the bathwater: If you think the GOP is being unfairly favored on this site, I suggest you pop on over to Jonestown. Once there, you can drink the Kool-Aid with impunity.

  10. “No you didn’t” Dumbego”

Even when you attempt to be humorous you fail miserably.

Chad, you know I’m right. You are selectively “moral”, selectively upset with “hypocrisy”. It’s no secret. And in about six months Jones Town will surpass this tribute to pseudo-intellectualism, and hackery.

  11. “Black babies? Are you kidding? They’d steal all the equipment then start [moderated comment] all those fine islamic women. Not to mention they’d be too busy playing basketball to actually fight.

No, if we can’t legalize all the mexicans and their brainworm parasite puppet masters, then my next choice would be Orientals. Wasn’t there a problem a few years ago with Chinese being smuggled into the country? I mean, crap, Danny Glover made a damned movie out of it (Lethal Weapon something or other).

Yeah, those chinks would be great fighters! And they could repair all the electronics damaged by all the sand the cameljockeys kick up!”

This is what one of you “writers” ,TR, had to say. I guess it was meant to be “funny”. You think it’s funny Chad? Seems kind of like passive aggressive racism. Pass it off as a joke when it’s really not a joke. Of course he writes here, so you tell me.

  12. May the force be with you, Diego.

  13. Hey, you said you wanted a “Troll”.

    And also with you, Carlo.

  14. I don’t recall ever saying that. I just figured since you’re already living under the bridge, it’d be a waste not to charge you rent for being an unholy terror. Seems to be your gift, lol:)

  15. “This is what one of you “writers” ,TR, had to say. I guess it was meant to be “funny”.

Yep, it was meant to be funny, just like my first post on the subject in which I mocked illegal immigration by mentioning the Brain Parasites some, SOME, Mexicans are bringing into our country when they come, and how Bush’s effort to grant amnesty was a way to drum up more troops for the war. But some chowder head over at your illustrious Jonestown site is oblivious to humor and took it way too seriously. So heck, I figured I’d try to follow your trollish lead and incite some more disorder with the second one.

You crack me up- you weren’t content to just leave it at your site- you had to fuss over here.

And you want to compare sites? Let’s start with names.

“MyThoughtWorld” indicates folks are sharing their thoughts.
“Jonestown” doesn’t that indicate a bunch of clueless sheeple congregating around a cult leader and then getting tricked into killing themselves? I mean, what exactly is the idea behind the site name? Do you idolize the cult? Do you want to kill all the visitors to your site? I’m confused.

  16. I still believe Carrie Prejean should have won the Miss USA 2009, and not Kirsten Dalton.

Carrie was looking stunning in her swimsuit. See for yourself!!

  17. I have been struggling with this for a long tie, I appreciate the encouragement – it gives me hope. Maybe someoneelse will figure this out.

  18. Carrie Prejean deserves to have her crown. She is beauiful and is also entitled to her own opinion about gays. “

  19. Very true, but we also have the right to not have Spammers making bogus comments just to get their lame-o links put on our pages.

  20. Ashton,
You brainless, effing spam bot piece of crap. Please stop leaving your mindless, irrelevant, non sequitur comment spam on the site. I wish you could comprehend this message, but alas only your keepers can and they will never read it. Too bad they can’t choke and die on all that spam. Bunch of losers.
