‘Don’t tase me bro!’
This video taken in 2007 of University of Florida student Andrew Meyer has won acclaim in the blogosphere, with many people taking the position that Meyer's First Amendment rights were violated. You be the judge.
John Kerry was holding a townhall style meeting on campus where Meyer was in attendance. This was a forum with specific rules governing its participants. During the question and answer period Meyer violated those rules and received a verbal warning. He continued to violate the forum rules resulting in campus security moving to escort him from the building. As authorities attempted to remove Meyer, he resisted and a struggle ensued. Ultimately, campus security was forced to tase and physically restrain him when he refused to follow instructions and continued to resist.
I wrote about this a while back and found that the situation was not so clear as the video depicts.
The student was going to be arrested before the footage begins (for abusing the forum) and it has since become clear it was a deliberate publicity stunt.
