I have read a little about the history of ark searches. Personally, I believe the ark does exist and can be found under the right weather conditions high on the upper slopes of Mt Ararat. About two centuries ago a volcanic eruption on the lower part of the mountain destroyed a monastary that contained an ancient artifact believed to be brought down from the ark during the later Roman era. I believe there is significant historical documentation to support the belief it rests on that mountain. Considering the increased icing of the mountain over the centuries it is little wonder it can rarely be located today. As for carbon dating, there are numerous problems with carbon dating in general. I don't say this because any particular artifact must necessarily be from the ark, but because the measurement process itself is much more dubious than scientists lead people to believe, particularly when dating thing of any antiquity greater than a few thousand years.

The picture used for this piece is the "alternative" Ark site claimed by David Fasold and Ron Wyatt, which is a volcanic formation that was later "fortified." John Morris has studied this, and confirmed it. Wyatt and Fasold would be what I call the "sensationalists." (Although one of that pair has since passed away, and the other has, I believe, rejected the site as NOT genuine.)
