An Allergic News Reaction: Smoke and Mirrors
An Allergic News Reaction: Smoke and Mirrors

In response to the rash of news coverage droning on and on, ad nauseam, about the presidential candidate passport scandal, I offer the following allergic reaction.

How terrible! This is a shocking outrage beyond belief! Someone has been looking at the passport files of the three major candidates for president! I am frightened and terrified! I can hardly contain myself. Someone should be tried and then water-boarded for this! People should have angry protests in the streets the whole world over! I am grief stricken! I have torn my clothes and poured ashes on my head – buckets of ashes!

After I calm down, I am going to write letters to the Bush administration (or "regime" if you prefer), all our representatives and senators, every pundit from all the major news outlets (including Fox), my local newspaper, even the Pennysaver! Then I am going to call all my closest friends and have a candlelight vigil in protest of this terrible transgression. After that, I will fast for three days. And finally, as an America-loving American, I am going to lobby my city council for a resolution calling for the impeachment of President Bush himself!

Sorry for the sarcasm. I’m still looking for an antidote to neutralize my disgust over such an unworthy news item. Why do we even pay attention to the news anymore?
