Chad,

Thanks much for the H/T, although I won't take credit for bringing the video to the public's attention. The heavy lifting was done by John Ziegler at http://howobamagotelected.com.

The foregoing leads to an interesting question of what is more viable: a party that actively recruits the stupid as part of its constituency, or a nation whose electorate is increasingly comprised of "lowest common denominator" voters?

In any event, thanks again for the shout!

As always, I am,

I disagree with you in part Evan. Perhaps he's not a socialist in the purist's sense of the word. But President-elect Obama does carry the seeds and thus the essence of socialism deep in his bosom. Also a growing number of Americans are carrying a class chip on their shoulders and are now primed for a more, shall we say, "progressive" approach to governing.

The beginnings of this new deal were first felt during FDR's administration when he made Abraham Epstein's vision of Social Security a reality. More government intervention followed in myriad government run and taxpayer funded social programs. The last 15 years have seen unprecedented government intervention in private enterprise, where government is taking over, buying out, bailing out...etc: Economic stimulus packages, Corporate farm bailouts, White collar bailouts of every hue, the taking over of the financial industry, bailing out the auto industry, Robinhood economics, and on it goes. This trend is really the essence of where the county is headed. We're embracing the very thing we vowed to fight against: Socialism. And Obama in concert with both neocons and neoliberals shares this philosophy.

Socialists advocate the creation of an egalitarian society, in which wealth and power are distributed "more" evenly. Socialism is also defined as any of various economic and political theories advocating collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods. That definition precisely describes not only what is happening in this country, but what the President-elect believes is a good and valid system of government. When he advocates this hubris and does so with the quip of "spreading" the wealth around and that when you do so, that's "good for everybody," well, let's just say it doesn't take a PHD to understand he's embracing a socialist tack and forcing people like you and I to sit on it. Since he is soon to become the leader of ever shrinking free world, it's natural, given his beliefs, that people are branding him a socialist. If the shoe fits...(it does)...then you know the rest of the story.

Anyway, thanks for commenting and see you next time.

While I agree that Obama's ties with Bill Ayers were questionable the socialist label the conservative media put on him was a little ridiculous. I have done a lot of research into Socialism, and he is not a socialist. The ideal socialist system would rely on small government, and be more like the America prior to the industrial revolution.
Obama is just a liberal who happened to be able to get elected. He will do nothing good while he is in office, just end up lobbying liberal corporate interest. The sheer gluttony of those corporate pigs is disgusting.
