Taking Down Hussein: If Not Us, Who… And When?

Some of you may have realized that I have little tolerance for liberals, and the following story provides reason enough. . In my argument for why the Iraq war was necessary, I don't include the fact that we we did what no one else could or would – we got rid of one of the worst tyrants in modern history. That's just a side benefit.

Saddam himself was worse than Darfur, worse even than Rwanda, and the reason I say that is that his terror was ongoing and unending, and his methods were so terrible that wanton killing almost pales in comparison. Saddam's was a family business, and his sons had already demonstrated that they were perhaps even better able to carry on their inheritance.

It was so bad that today, when the following was posted on Drudge, I couldn't even get past the headline until I'd had time to steel myself against what I might come upon in the article. And just before I started to read it, I thought about the seemingly endless parade of idiots like Lenny and Snowy, you know, those two Laverne and Shirley rejects who want to ignore reality and continue to claim that we shouldn't have gone into Iraq. To borrow Gutfeld's tagline, they truly are worse than Hitler if they believe that, but even though they do, I don't have to countenance their expression of it, much less entertain the equally nonsensical and never ending stupidity that liberals substitute for thought.

So as I read "Saddam-era torture tools in mobile museum of horror…" I got angrier and angrier, not at Saddam Hussein, but at liberals – this less than worthless lot keeping America from being as great as it deserves to be. That's right, I'm saying it – liberals are bad for America. They're bad for anybody, actually, but they are particularly bad for America, and the specifics are too many and too long to get into here.

Only America could have ended this (by the way, please excuse the misspellings, the article was written in British and I chose not to make corrections):

"Gruesome instruments of torture and the personal effects of victims killed by henchmen of dictator Saddam Hussein haunt Iraqis five years after the fall of his brutal regime.

The display, currently on show in Baghdad, is due to travel across the country in "tribute to the thousands of martyrs" murdered when Saddam was in power, former political prisoner Amed Naji al-Badawi said…

Nooses hang from the ceiling, and a wooden coffin-like box containing a mediaeval-looking torture rack on which prisoners were pinned and stretched takes centre stage. Pictures of hangings and bodies are plastered all over the walls…

Badawi, a stout man in his 50s who spent five years in the jails of Saddam's feared 'mukhabarat' secret service because of his alleged support for the Shiite Dawa party… was arrested along with 13 members of his family — and seven of his brothers were killed by Saddam's goons.

Over the past five years Badawi's committee has helped to locate 106 mass graves and the remains of 1,050 men, women and children killed by members of the ousted regime.

The display was set up to mark the 17th anniversary of the start of a Shiite uprising in southern Iraq on March 1, 1991, a day after Saddam's regime agreed to a truce with US-led coalition forces after its defeat in the first Gulf war…

The names of dozens of those victims are inscribed on black banners hung in the museum, next to a portrait of Shiite leader Mohammed Sadek al-Sadr who was killed in 1999. The assassination of the Iraqi Shiite dignitary sparked major riots in Najaf, one of Iraq's holiest cities for Shiite Muslims.

In the middle of the room a single doll wrapped in a white shroud represents children killed during the iron-fisted rule of Saddam. It is surrounded with toys and cheap plastic flowers.

Mothers and widows who have visited the museum have broken down in tears at the sight of this display, Badawi said.

Also on show are cases containing the personal effects of some of Saddam's victims, whose remains or mutilated bodies have been found over the past five years in dozens of mass graves across Iraq.

The artefacts include combs, identity cards, a rosary, a sock caked in soil, a fragment of a pair of spectacles and bloodstained clothes. Arrest warrants signed by Saddam himself are also on view. "

I've omitted the rest. It made me sick, and I didn't want it on my blog – just like I don't want liberals who make me sicker. But I still tolerate them as part of my ceaseless quest to find a rational one… It's a dirty job, but someone has to do it – just like someone had to topple Saddam.

From The Vault: October 2006 Soldier Diaries

Editor’s Note: When I was the editor of a small rightwing "rag," I had the pleasure of having a working relationship with a couple of guys in uniform, both of whom were doing tours of duty in Iraq. It was a good partnership, enabling them to get their message out, and simultaneously allowing me to publish copy, which none of the press in my area (or the rest of the country, for that matter) felt was worth printing.

I used the word "felt" in reference to mainstream media, because most of them never had what amounted to a sentient thought when it came to reporting the facts. It was all about what they felt, or feel…was really happening in the world. Unfortunately, what they felt like writing about rarely had any correspondence to reality. But they're damn "good" writers and we all know how important that is to being a good reporter.

Anyway, what follows is some commentary and a bit of news sent to me (Oct. 2006) from a soldier who contributed regularly to our Soldier Diaries column. I only know the writer as Bandit 36. He has since returned from Iraq, and as far as I know is living happily ever after somewhere on American soil. God bless him and his family wherever they are.

B-36 News: October 11th, 2006

I had worked up a nice little narrative about my experience of the explosions that resulted from the fire at FOB Falcon, but as I reread it I started thinking OPSEC and decided that if I had to think twice about it, chances are I shouldn't post it.

According to MNF-Iraq.com's report, a bad guy's mortar landed in the ammo dump and was responsible for the fires and explosions. Let me just say that these guys were shooting blind and just happened to land a lucky shot somewhere that made a lot of pretty sparkles, and loud noises that got them in the news.

Today I've been reading some of the reports in the news about last night and couldn't help but laugh at how wrong they are. Two early reports, one from Reuters and another from eCanadaNow, claimed that the explosions were actually in the Green Zone… Sounds to me like some reporter was hiding in a bunker,  made a quick cell phone call to his editor after hearing the first few explosions and didn't bother to make sure that he had his facts straight.

Afghanistan to Basrah
Umar Faruq had been detained in a prison in Afghanistan, but he had managed to escape only to be waxed in Basrah.

Ground forces have verified the death of Mahmoud Ahmed Mohammed Al-Rashid, also known as Umar Faruq, through DNA testing.

During a raid, Sept 25 in Basrah, ground forces killed Mahmoud Ahmed Mohammed Al-Rashid Faruq. As forces maneuvered to the objective, they received small-arms fire from suspected terrorists. Forces killed an individual wielding a firearm as they reached the objective. After taking photographs and gathering DNA evidence from the individual, ground forces left the suspected terrorist remains at the site. It was later determined through DNA gathered from the site that the individual killed was Umar Faruq.

But Iraq isn't a part of the war on terror or anything so he was probably visiting family or vacationing in sunny Basrah… nevermind the AK47 he was firing.

Quantifiable, Verifiable Progress
So you want proof that we're still making forward progress? Try this:

This week, one brigade and three battalions of the Iraqi Army assumed the lead in their areas of operation, bringing the total of Iraqi units in the lead to six Iraqi Army division headquarters, 30 brigades and 89 battalions,” said MG, William Caldwell. “Of the 110 bases that Coalition forces have occupied since 2003, 52 have been turned over to Iraqi control.”

“In September, Iraqi and Coalition forces killed more than 110 terrorists and detained more than 520 suspected terrorists in 164 operations,” Caldwell said. Based on information received from a recently detained al-Qaida member, Coalition forces
detained a former driver and personal assistant of Abu Ayyoub al- Masri, the purported leader of al-Qaida in Iraq, along with 31 others during a series of raids in the Baghdad area Sept. 28th.

But aren't we supposed to be bogged down in an untenable quagmire? That's what the media keeps telling us. Maybe I just don't know what I'm talking about.

China harms Americans with evil fiery footwear plot

Still reeling from the "lead painted (in some circles 'lead tainted') Hot Wheels/toys scandal," Wal-Mart has been caught selling, yet, another hazardous product made in China. But instead of toys, this time we're talkin' footwear, the flexible, flippery, floppery kind. It turns out Wal-Mart has been selling (you won't believe it) tainted flip flops. Wearers of the fiery footwear have reported experiencing chemical burns as a result. Who knew? I'm glad you asked, because Wal-Mart, Ho Chi Mart, whatever they're calling themselves these days, apparently did receive complaints on the nefarious foot apparel and continued to sell it anyway.

You're, no doubt, wondering why they continued to sell the flip flops? Because with the many millions of pairs Wal-Mart has sold, they claim they only received ten complaints. However, Wal-Mart's assertion is being contested by Kerry Stiles of Oklawaha, Florida. Stiles has, herself, suffered from severe chemical burns subsequent to wearing the flip flops and has a web page dedicated to telling her story. She also has numerous well documented accounts of people who experienced chemical burns as a result of wearing the flip flops.

When the story finally broke in the press, Wal-Mart allegedly removed the offending footwear from the shelves.

Aside from Wal-Marts effrontery, maybe now my friends will understand why I check the "Made in…" labels on my purchases, and why I don't buy anything made in China if I can help it. My "forward thinking" economic global-Nazi friends used to laugh at me for being so anal about this stuff; but they're not laughing now, and you know why dear reader…most of them are flip flop wearing Wal-Mart worshipers, or at least initiates into the cabal of free trade.

For those of you who may have forgotten, allow me to remind you why globalism is "good" and why free trade with China is even "better" for America:

  1. Deindustrialization
  2. No longer self sufficient
  3. Loss of National Sovereignty
  4. Devaluation of the American dollar
  5. Loss of jobs
  6. Further weakening of Social Security and Medicare
  7. Increase in public pressure for federally funded national health care
  8. Eroding of agriculture (farming)

And you thought "protectionism" was a dirty word.
