The United States: where terrorists are treated like U.S. citizens

Another wacky ruling came down from the Supreme Court this week…or was that last week? With all the screwy rulings coming down the pike from higher courts, it’s hard to keep track. Anyway, it turns out that these days when the “honorable” silky libertines aren’t ruling in favor of killing babies they’re up for treating terrorists like law abiding U.S. citizens. And they’re not alone in their sentiment, but I’ll come to that a little later. For the moment, let us explore the inherent nuttiness of the left-handed rules in place with the Supreme Court.

In a 5-4 ruling, with liberal judges clearly in the majority, terrorists (or suspected terrorists) held at Guantanamo Bay Cuba now have the right to challenge their detention under the U.S. Constitution in civilian courts.

What does that mean? Simply this, that “defense lawyers can now argue that their clients have the right to confront their accusers and not incriminate themselves, both of which have been denied under the Military Commissions Act.” What is this but another coup de tat by the liberal wing of the Supreme Court to impose their arbitrary will upon Americans? It’s a tale wagging the dog kind of thing when a handful of unelected activist judges can impose their stupidity on the rest of us.

This is scary stuff folks, especially given the current political climate. If conditions hold, expect Barack Obama to take the White House this year. Provided Americans don’t throw liberal Democrats out on their arses, this is exactly the kind of ruling and subsequent legislation which will be imposed on the American people in an avalanche of liberal legislation from the Hill and liberal rulings from the Supreme Court. Does anybody care? Probably not…

But maybe the following excerpts will convince you of what we’re dealing with here in a broader context…the general election. We turn our attention to Barack Obama (again) and his cavorting sidekick, John Kerry.

“…[I]n an interview with ABC News. Obama was asked how he could be sure the Bush administration's anti-terrorism policies are not crucial to protecting U.S. citizens.”

Interestingly, he never substantiated his claim to answer the question directly. Instead, he said this:

"And, you know, let's take the example of Guantanamo," Obama said. "What we know is that, in previous terrorist attacks — for example, the first attack against the World Trade Center — we were able to arrest those responsible, put them on trial. They are currently in U.S. prisons, incapacitated.

"And the fact that the administration has not tried to do that has created a situation where not only have we never actually put many of these folks on trial, but we have destroyed our credibility when it comes to rule of law all around the world, and given a huge boost to terrorist recruitment in countries that say, 'Look, this is how the United States treats Muslims. …

This is how the United States treats Muslims? How do these interviewers just let statements like that go? This isn’t how the U.S. treats Muslims, and Barack Obama damn well knows it; this is how we treat terrorists. I wish to God he’d stop lying through his teeth and just admit that the only reason he pukes out rhetoric like that is because a lot of Americans are just gullible enough to believe it.

But let’s keep going, he went on to opine about what Muslims around the world think of our treatment of terrorists at Guantanamo. He’s quite worried about it. Muslim terrorist sympathizers around the world don’t like how we treat terrorists. That treatment (it’s claimed) increases recruit numbers for the terrorist effort, so let’s be nicer…to the terrorists. Let’s treat them like U.S. citizens. ‘Cause after all, when terrorists do what terrorists do, they should be treated well, otherwise, Muslims around the globe will get mad at us. I don’t know what’s worse, that he said it or that so many folks are nodding their heads in agreement with this nonsense. It makes perfect “sense” to me: Terrorism will evaporate if we just treat terrorists like U.S. citizens. Why didn’t it occur to me before? It’s so simple and yet, so…stupid! That’s probably why it didn’t occur to me before.

If that weren’t enough John Kerry couldn’t resist getting into the act as well saying, "The U.S. is less safe, less respected and less able to lead in the world, and that is the record John McCain has chosen to embrace." After reading that quote I was overcome with the strangest feeling of De Ja Vu. I could swear I’ve heard that line before…like in 2004 when Kerry said it the first time. 4 years later along comes Obama and parrots this garbage as if it were some new and startling revelation. And you’ve really gotta hand it to these liberals; they’ve learned a valuable lesson through politics and the media: if you just repeat the same crap over and over again, people will eventually believe it. In fact, they’ll believe it so blindly; they won’t even think to question it.

There’s nothing new here folks. These are the same liberal myths we heard during the Kerry campaign, so it shouldn’t surprise us that Obama is hauling these well worn liberal clichés out of mothballs. I wish to God these knuckleheads would sing a new song, but apparently, this is all they’re capable of: lies, lies…oh, yeah, and more lies, which suits Obama just fine as he is only too happy to regurgitate Kerry’s lines from the previous musical production. To reiterate:

1. Bush policies have made the U.S. less safe. And…

2. We’ve given a huge boost to terrorist recruitment in Muslim friendly countries.

Somehow it never occurs to the poor dumb interviewer to ask how the “venerable” Kerry and Obama have arrived at their conclusions. Can Obama, Kerry, the interviewer, or the viewing public corroborate these claims? No…But that certainly won’t stop many otherwise well intentioned and possibly good people from lapping this stuff up like starving curs.

I really should stop now before I slide under a gas truck and taste my own blood.

Obama Gump defends his national security credentials…with a little help from the media

He's not a smawt man, but
he knows what a terrorist is

The top story today from the AP has Barack Obama saying that the president’s comments on the appeasement of terrorists is "exactly the kind of appalling attack that's divided our country and that alienates us from the world.”

Uh…no, Barack. It’s exactly the kind of rhetoric that alienates us further from the terrorists. And you’d have to be a complete imbecile to not know that. Clearly, Obama has confused terrorists with the rest of the world. That would explain his stupid remarks. It also explains yet another reason why he isn’t qualified to be president.

Beyond that, there’s the issue of the media which is trying overly hard to help the American public come to the same conclusion they have—that Barack Obama was targeted by Bush Jr. The prez gave a speech in which he uttered something to the effect of, “some seem to believe that we should negotiate with terrorists and radicals.” This was in reference to those who would sit down and attempt to bargain with bloodthirsty murderous thugs. Since Obama has said he would be willing to do just that, he took offense at Bush’s comments, claiming they were aimed at him. Unfortunately, the media is only to happy to jettison neutrality and objectivity in favor of helping Obama get his message out.

From the AP:

Barack Obama rebuked Republican rival John McCain and President Bush for 'dishonest, divisive' attacks in hinting that the Democratic presidential candidate would appease terrorists, staunchly defending his national security credentials for the general election campaign.”

Did you see it? No??? That’s because it wasn’t there. The paragraph was missing one little adverb: “allegedly.”

“…Barack Obama rebuked Republican rival John McCain and President Bush for "dishonest, divisive" attacks in [allegedly] hinting that the Democratic presidential candidate would appease terrorists…”

And we all know why that little neutral word wasn’t used don’t we? It’s because the AP took a side when they did this story (surprise!). As a former newspaper editor and journalist it amazes even me what passes for news these days. As far as I’m concerned, these publications will never be anything more than substandard birdcage liner as long as they continue taking sides and inserting their opinions into “news” stories.

Then there’s the matter of Obama’s “national security credentials,” which the article I referenced for this piece said he had to “staunchly defend.” Another article (also from the AP) said that Obama’s “national security credentials have been challenged.” To which I ask, since when did he ever have any? In order to have national security credentials you must first marshal the experience of handling national security matters. What national security experience does Barack Hussein Obama have? To date…he has exactly zero experience in the national security arena. Therefore, he has nothing to defend and nothing has been challenged, except maybe his elitist, overinflated, Ivy League ego.
